Lamine Yamal Mural Restored In Barcelona After Being Vandalized
Why Was The Mural Altered?
The mural dedicated to Lamine Yamal by street artist TVBoy, located in Barcelona’s Gràcia neighborhood, has been restored after being controversially modified by another graffiti artist. The artwork, originally depicting Yamal as a superhero with an “L” on his chest and a red background, was created in mid-July to celebrate his 18th birthday and his meteoric rise with FC Barcelona.
However, just days later, the mural was intervened with the addition of Snow White’s seven dwarfs, reportedly as a critique of the hiring of individuals with achondroplasia during the player’s birthday celebration.
Who Modified The Mural And How Did TVBoy Respond?
The alteration was attributed to another urban artist who signed the piece as Shredder, an act interpreted by many as a form of social protest. Despite the controversy, TVBoy quickly took matters into his own hands: on Monday afternoon, he repainted the original red background, erasing the added characters and restoring the mural to its initial version.
What Does The Mural Represent For Yamal’s Career?
The tribute highlights Lamine Yamal’s impact at both Barcelona and the Spanish national team, where he is already seen as one of football’s brightest young talents. At just 17 years old, his superhero depiction reflects what many fans believe — that Barça’s new No. 10 has the power to lead a new era.

Now, the mural in Gràcia stands once again as a symbol of admiration and pride, intact and faithful to the artist’s original vision.
