Lamine Yamal in Doubt for Barcelona vs. Valencia

Barcelona could head into their next LaLiga match with a major question mark.

Hansi Flick confirmed during his press conference that Lamine Yamal suffered a knock in recent days and was unable to complete training with the rest of his teammates, leaving his availability against Valencia uncertain.

For now, the issue does not appear to be a serious injury. The Spanish winger trained individually as a precaution and, after the session, reported positive sensations to the coaching staff. Even so, Flick refused to make an early decision and made it clear that he will wait until matchday to see how the player responds.

“Lamine Yamal took a knock and was in pain. It was better for him to train separately. After training, he said everything was fine. He will travel with us and we’ll see tomorrow,” the German coach explained.

Lamine Yamal’s absence from team training raised some concerns, particularly because of his importance to Barcelona’s attack. However, Flick played down the situation and indicated that the decision to keep him away from the group was purely precautionary.

The fact that the forward will travel with the squad is a positive sign, although the coaching staff wants to see how he progresses before confirming his participation.

“He’s still not at 100%, but I can see him enjoying himself with the ball. He can play a few minutes,” Flick said.

Everything suggests that Gabriel Jesus could start the match on the bench and have an opportunity to play his first minutes depending on how the game develops.
