Lamine Yamal Accused of Using Steroids in Lance Armstrong Comparison
Lamine Yamal, the young FC Barcelona star, has been caught in a social media storm after accusations surfaced claiming he is undergoing physical enhancement treatments—some even comparing the case to that of disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong.
Where did the accusation come from?
The controversy began with a tweet by user @GxlDeManutinho, who stated: “Since Hansi Flick arrived at Barça, the players are mutating.” He pointed to the 17-year-old winger as an example, writing: “Lamine Yamal: +10 cm and +20 kg of muscle. He’s now 181 cm tall.”
However, these claims were quickly debunked. Yamal was already listed at 1.78 meters when he debuted with the senior team, making the alleged drastic physical transformation unfounded.

What did Kiko Matamoros say?
The issue escalated when Spanish TV personality Kiko Matamoros weighed in with explosive comments. On his social media, he wrote:
“The dumbest sports doctor in the world knows exactly what treatment this kid is getting. What happened with Lance Armstrong is a joke compared to this.”
Matamoros also blasted Spain’s anti-doping control system:
“Anti-doping control in Spain is a joke, like everything that falls under the CSD.”
He added that the public is “naive” and unaware of the inner workings of sports medicine:
“It’s amazing how clueless people are about what’s really happening in the world of sports medicine. No one wants a scandal—cycling already paid the price for everyone.”
Is there any formal complaint?
As of now, no official complaint or medical evidence has been filed against Lamine Yamal. The allegations remain speculative and are based entirely on unverified social media claims, with no statement from anti-doping authorities or FC Barcelona.
