Kounde Does Not Show Up for Barcelona’s Training, and Flick Faces the Match With Only Four First-Team Defenders

  • Barcelona finalizes its preparation to host Alavés with Koundé injured and only four first-team defenders available.

Kounde misses the final training session

Defender Jules Kounde, who is nursing a sprained left ankle, did not train with his teammates in the final session before Barcelona host Alavés this Saturday.

Only four senior defenders available

The first-team coach, Hansi Flick, has only four senior defenders available for this match -Gerard Martín, Pau Cubarsí, Joao Cancelo and Alejandro Balde- due to the injuries to the aforementioned Kounde, centre-back Andreas Christensen, and full-backs Eric García and Xavi Espart.

Academy reinforcements and more absentees

As a result, full-back Guillem Víctor and centre-back Àlex Campos, both from the youth team, once again completed the session at the Tito Vilanova pitch at the Joan Gamper Training City.

They were joined by three other Barça Atlètic players: forward Hamza Adelakarim, attacking midfielder Ebrima Tunkara and goalkeeper Max Bonfill.

In addition to the defenders mentioned, the injured Danio Olmo and Roony Bardghji will also not be included in the squad that the German coach will announce on Saturday. EFE
