Jude Bellingham Real Madrid Player to Undergo Surgery for This Reason
Real Madrid journey in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup has come to an end after a heavy 4–0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the semifinals. While the loss marks the close of the season for Los Blancos, it signals a new beginning for Jude Bellingham.
As previously reported in recent weeks, the English midfielder will undergo shoulder surgery, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
A Longstanding Issue
Bellingham has been dealing with shoulder discomfort since November 2023, when he suffered a dislocation during a match against Rayo Vallecano. Since then, he has occasionally played with a protective sling. After enduring the pain for nearly a full season, the player has now opted for surgery to resolve the issue once and for all.
How Long Will Bellingham Be Sidelined?
The operation is expected to keep him out for approximately 3 to 4 months, although the exact recovery time will depend on how he responds post-surgery. As a result, Bellingham will miss the start of the 2025/26 season with Real Madrid.
LaLiga is scheduled to begin the weekend of August 16. However, Madrid may be granted a postponement for their opening match due to minimum rest period requirements set by the Spanish Footballers' Association (AFE) following their Club World Cup participation.
Regardless of the official kickoff date, Bellingham is unlikely to return to action before October or even November. He could potentially miss up to 12 LaLiga matches, including El Clásico against FC Barcelona on October 26 at the Santiago Bernabéu. Additionally, he would be unavailable for the first four group-stage games of the UEFA Champions League and England’s international breaks in September and October.
A Significant Absence for Real Madrid
Bellingham absence is undoubtedly a blow for Real Madrid heading into the new season. However, given his professionalism and strong commitment, the club is confident he will do everything possible to recover quickly and be ready to contribute under Xabi Alonso leadership.
