Is Vinicius Jr in tears over boos at the Bernabéu?
The Brazilian once again made headlines after an image showing his behavior inside the dressing room
Brazilian forward Vinicius Jr has not enjoyed his best season. A lack of goals has made him the target of criticism from several fronts, including the Santiago Bernabéu crowd, the home of Real Madrid.
Vinicius left distraught in the tunnel during the match against Levante
Real Madrid are going through a difficult period, as the Supercopa de España defeat and the painful elimination against Albacete led to Xabi Alonso’s departure from the bench and sparked anger among the club’s supporters, who did not hesitate to boo and whistle the players ahead of the match against Levante.
The Brazilian was caught sitting on the steps of the dressing-room tunnel, visibly upset, to the point where Kylian Mbappé tried to comfort him, without much success.
Arbeloa comes to Vinicius’ defense
Álvaro Arbeloa took charge of Real Madrid following Alonso’s exit and endured the nightmare in Albacete. Still, he did not hesitate to defend the Brazilian, highlighting his attitude and legacy at the club.
“I don’t think he gets booed in the same way every match. I have enormous respect for the Bernabéu crowd; it’s one of the reasons this club is so great. They want to see the best version of Vini—the one we saw a week ago against Barcelona—and no one should forget that he has helped us win several Champions League titles,” Arbeloa said.
