Hansi Flick Will Fight for the Continuity of Joao Cancelo and Marcus Rashford at Barcelona.
Hansi Flick wants to ensure the continuity of Rashford and Cancelo at Barcelona, key pieces that the club will try to retain despite the economic difficulties.
Crucial Moment
FC Barcelona faces decisive weeks to determine the continuity of two key pieces in Hansi Flick's scheme: Marcus Rashford and Joao Cancelo. The German coach has made it clear that both footballers are fundamental to his project and the Barcelona management is working to ensure they continue wearing the blue and claret.
Rashford's case
Rashford, loaned by Manchester United until June 30, has a purchase option of almost 35 million dollars. The English forward, aware of the club's economic difficulties, is willing to lower his salary to facilitate the operation. According to the Spanish press, at Camp Nou, they appreciate his gesture and are considering two options: executing the purchase in installments of 10 million over three years, extending the contract to five seasons to better distribute the amortization, or negotiating a new loan with United, where the player does not wish to return. His numbers support the bet: 14 goals and 12 assists in the season, in addition to his offensive versatility.
Cancelo's complexities
The case of Cancelo presents another complexity. The Portuguese full-back, loaned by Al-Hilal, has a valid contract in Arabia until 2027. At 32 years old, and recently called up by Robert Martínez to play in his second World Cup, the defender has established himself on the left flank of Barça with two goals and three assists. Continuity depends on a direct negotiation with the Saudi club, where the figure of his agent, Jorge Mendes, will be decisive.
In Barcelona, there are no doubts: Flick wants both, and the management will do everything possible to fulfilll his request. Retaining Rashford and Cancelo would not only strengthen the team on the field but also send a message of ambition in an increasingly competitive market.
