Hansi Flick Says Barcelona Will Be the Last Club He Manages
Hansi Flick confirmed that his time at FC Barcelona will mark the final chapter of his coaching career. The German manager, who arrived at the Catalan club in 2024, plans to retire from the sidelines once his tenure with the Blaugrana comes to an end.
The head coach of FC Barcelona, Hansi Flick, made it clear that he intends to bring his managerial career to a close after finishing his cycle with the Catalan giants. The 61-year-old German stated that he has no plans to coach another team once his time at the Blaugrana is over, reinforcing his commitment to the club’s long-term sporting project.
Flick’s comments come at a crucial moment for Barcelona, as the team prepares for a decisive Champions League clash against Newcastle United. Although the manager avoided going into detail ahead of the important European fixture, he made it clear that his future remains fully tied to the Catalan club.
“I love working here. I’m not thinking about going anywhere else. I’m here and this will be my last club, my last job,” the German coach said, expressing his satisfaction with the environment and the direction of the project at Barcelona.
Full Support From Joan Laporta
FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta has been one of the strongest supporters of Hansi Flick’s continuity on the Blaugrana bench. Following his recent re-election, the club chief confirmed that the team is close to finalizing a contract extension with the German manager, whose current deal runs until 2027.
According to Laporta, the club is working to extend the agreement until 2028, a move that would provide stability to the sporting project in the coming years. The president believes Flick has revitalized the squad and helped several players reach a higher level after struggling in previous seasons.
“He is a young, energetic man who has made the team function with the same players who previously didn’t click. He has given the squad a boost through the clarity of his ideas,” Laporta explained, while also expressing his hope that the coach remains at the club for much of his presidential term, which runs until 2031.
A Successful Cycle That Could Close His Career
Since arriving in the summer of 2024, Hansi Flick has made an immediate impact at Barcelona. In his first season in charge, he led the team to a domestic double by winning both LaLiga and the Copa del Rey, achievements that reinforced his reputation as one of Europe’s most successful coaches.
Before joining Barcelona, the German manager enjoyed a remarkable spell with Bayern Munich, where he won the historic treble in 2020. He later managed the Germany national team between 2021 and 2023, gaining experience both at club and international level.
