Gonzalo Garcia Attracts Interest From a Big Bundesliga Team
With few minutes due to the fierce competition in attack, he could find prominence in Germany.
Gonzalo García and his rise to Real Madrid
The future of Gonzalo García could take an important turn in the next transfer market. The 22-year-old forward, who came up thru the Real Madrid youth system, became one of Xabi Alonso's first backups when he took over at the Club World Cup. There, the forward responded with goals and performances that put him on the radar of several European teams.
Few minutes on the pitch
However, the reality changed at the start of the season. With Vinícius and Mbappé as undisputed starters, his space in the starting eleven was reduced to a minimum. Under the guidance of Alonso first and Álvaro Arbeloa later, García accumulated 34 official matches, although most of them with limited minutes on the field. Even so, he managed to score five goals, demonstrating that he can contribute even in secondary roles.
At Real Madrid, they value his performance, but they acknowledge that his role is unlikely to change in the short term. The competition in attack does not seem to decrease and, on the contrary, could intensify with new additions. In that scenario, Borussia Dortmund appears as a tempting option: the German club offers him immediate prominence, especially given the possible departure of Guirassy, and considers him a key piece for their offense.
A possible future elsewhere
According to German media, contacts have already begun between the Dortmund management and the environment of the Spanish U-21 international. The proposal includes a loan with an option to buy or the acquisition of 50% of his rights, in a deal that would range between 23 and 41 million dollars. In Madrid, the stance is clear: if there is no buyback clause, the price will not drop below 58 million.
The case is reminiscent of other talents from the white academy, like Nico Paz, who found opportunities far from the Bernabéu. Now, Gonzalo García faces the dilemma of continuing to fight for minutes in a star-studded Real Madrid or making the leap to Germany, where he is promised to be the absolute protagonist.
