Gavi’s Return to the Pitch Is Getting Closer!
The midfielder is already training on the pitch after his arthroscopy and is expected to rejoin the team in about ten days, with a view to playing in mid-February.
Gavi’s return is getting closer. The Barcelona midfielder is almost fully recovered from his injury and is gradually reintegrating into the team’s routine. In recent days, he has focused on gym work to strengthen his muscles and on sessions with the physiotherapist. He has now also started training on the pitch, resuming running and football-specific movements.
The next step will be reintegrating into training with his teammates. According to the club’s plan, this could happen in about ten days, starting next week or, at the latest, the following week. However, his progress will be assessed daily based on how his knee responds.
Once Gavi returns to training with the group, the next goal will be to determine when he can play in an official match. All signs point to a possible comeback in mid-February, although this will depend on how his recovery progresses during the initial team training sessions.
Coach Hansi Flick has made it clear that he will not take any risks with Gavi. Although the current injury is different from his previous one, the manager prefers a gradual recovery process to ensure the player reaches full fitness. Gavi shares this approach, aware that the World Cup is approaching and that he must be in peak condition to compete.
The player was injured in September and underwent arthroscopy to repair a tear in the inner meniscus, in the same knee where he suffered another injury in November 2023. His estimated recovery period is between four and five months, which would conclude by the end of February.
