Galatasaray Insists on Ter Stegen and Seeks to Snatch Him From FC Barcelona
Galatasaray has launched a serious attempt to sign Marc-André ter Stegen, aiming to make the German goalkeeper a key figure in their 2025–26 sporting project. Although the first formal offer was rejected, the Turkish club is not backing down and is already preparing a second, more lucrative proposal.
First Approach Falls Short
According to sources close to the negotiation, Galatasaray made an initial offer during a meeting in Istanbul. An advisor representing Ter Stegen’s management company gathered all the details of the proposal. As expected, the offer did not move forward.
The Turkish side offered the German keeper a net salary of $6 million per season, along with the promise of building a competitive squad capable of challenging Europe’s top clubs. Still, these arguments were not enough to sway the Barça star.
Ter Stegen Focused on Barça Preseason
Ter Stegen remains in Barcelona and, for now, is fully committed to starting preseason under Hansi Flick. He has already held talks with the manager and other sporting officials to discuss his role within the squad.
The club would not oppose a potential departure, especially as it would reduce the wage bill and free up the keeper’s substantial salary. The arrivals of Joan García and the potential renewal of Wojciech Szczęsny could reshape the goalkeeping situation at Camp Nou.
Galatasaray Ready for a “Second Attempt”
With preseason just around the corner, Turkish media report that Galatasaray is preparing a second and more enticing offer in an effort to change the course of negotiations.
The Istanbul club has followed a clear strategy: after signing Leroy Sané as a marquee player, they attempted to follow up with Ter Stegen. Now, they are also targeting Victor Osimhen, with reports suggesting an offer of €75 million, close to Napoli’s demands.
Will Ter Stegen Leave Barça?
At the moment, Ter Stegen has indicated to those close to him that he is not considering a move away from FC Barcelona. However, his agents are keeping an eye on the market particularly as both Manchester United and Manchester City are still evaluating their goalkeeping options.
Galatasaray’s manager, Okan Buruk, remains hopeful of landing one of the most ambitious signings of the summer. Will they convince Ter Stegen? For now, the German keeper is in no rush and open to listening to offers before deciding on his future.
