Franco Mastantuono Reveals How Real Madrid Players Welcomed Him in First Training Session
First day, first impressions. Franco Mastantuono made his debut at Valdebebas and was met with a surprise that confirms the high standards at Real Madrid. The Argentine spoke about what impressed him the most and how his new teammates welcomed him.
A debut full of intensity
Franco Mastantuono now knows what it’s like to train with Real Madrid. The young Argentine completed his first session at Valdebebas and, after the workout, spoke to Real Madrid TV to share his thoughts. “I’m very happy. The group welcomed me very well, it was a very intense day, hot, but I was able to enjoy it a lot,” he said with a smile.
Just days after his presentation, the attacking midfielder had his first real taste of working within Xabi Alonso’s team dynamic. And although the heat in the Spanish capital was a factor, Mastantuono made it clear that the biggest impact came from sharing the pitch with some of the best players in the world.
The big surprise: pace and quality
When asked what stood out the most, he didn’t hesitate: “The quality of my teammates, the speed. It’s a very high pace, which is great because playing with the best makes you improve.” That pace of play and precision in every action are, for Mastantuono, both a challenge and an opportunity for growth.

He also had the chance to work directly under Xabi Alonso, a coach who also experienced joining Real Madrid at a young age. “He welcomed me, greeted me, and then we got down to training. I think it was a good session,” the Argentine explained.
A locker room that embraces
The first day was intense not only on the pitch. Mastantuono also highlighted the human quality of the Madrid dressing room: “I met great people who welcomed me very well. I’m very happy with my first day and I hope there are many more. They welcomed me in the best way, and I’m very grateful for that.”
With a tight schedule and the demand to perform from day one, the Argentine knows that adapting quickly will be key. For now, his first training session shows that Mastantuono arrives with drive, humility, and the desire to learn from the very best.
