Florentino Pérez Is Preparing a Record Signing of 174.5 Million Dollars at Real Madrid, but He Won’t Say It Yet.
The president and merengue candidate will reveal on Tuesday, if he wins the elections, the historic offer that complies with the FIFA Statute and promises to revolutionize the market
It will be known if he is elected president
Florentino Pérez, president and candidate in the Real Madrid elections, once again shook the football scene with an announcement that promises to mark a before and after in the club's history. The leader confirmed that he has a 174.5 million offer ready to finalize the biggest transfer ever made by the white institution. However, the full revelation of this signing will have to wait; Pérez hinted that he will only disclose the details next Tuesday, provided he is elected in the Sunday elections.
The reasons for not announcing it yet.
The decision to postpone the announcement is not casual. On one hand, it aims to generate anticipation among members and supporters during the electoral campaign. On the other hand, it responds to a strictly legal matter; the FIFA Transfer Regulations, in its article 18, establish that a club must communicate in writing its intention to negotiate with the team that owns the player before starting any conversation. If Pérez were to reveal the operation without being officially president, he would be exposed to a complaint and sanctions from the highest body of world football. Moreover, the regulations clarify that a player can only sign with another club if their contract has already expired or is within the last six months of validity.

Other confirmed transfers
Beyond this blockbuster signing, the white president confirmed other market moves. Among them, the agreement with Denzel Dumfries, a full-back from Inter Milan, whose release clause of 23 million dollars was executed by the Spanish club. They also finalized the signing of Ibrahima Konaté, a defender who became a free agent and did not require negotiations with another institution. In parallel, it confirmed the agreement with José Mourinho to become the team's next coach, although Benfica reminded that the Portuguese coach still has a clause in effect to leave the club.
