Fidalgo arrives motivated after World Cup experience

Álvaro Fidalgo has officially rejoined Real Betis for preseason after enjoying a short break following his participation with Mexico at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Spanish midfielder described the tournament as an unforgettable experience and says he is ready to focus on the challenges ahead.

Speaking to the club's official media during Betis' training camp in Marbella, Fidalgo expressed his excitement about returning to the squad.

"I'm back home, very happy, and really looking forward to getting started. It's going to be a very exciting season for everyone," he said after completing his first training session, which consisted of gym work.

The 29-year-old reflected positively on Mexico's World Cup campaign, admitting that the tournament exceeded every expectation despite the team's narrow elimination against England.

"It was an incredible experience. Every footballer dreams of playing in a World Cup, but it was even better than I imagined," Fidalgo explained.

The midfielder also reassured supporters about his physical condition, noting that he remained active throughout his vacation after the demanding World Cup schedule.

"I feel great physically. I never completely stopped training during my break, so I'm ready to go and excited for everything that's coming," he said.

Fidalgo also welcomed the arrival of Fran García, his former teammate at Real Madrid Castilla, praising both his footballing ability and his character.

After spending last season adapting to European football following his successful spell in Mexico, Fidalgo believes this campaign offers the perfect opportunity to elevate his performances and become an even more influential figure for Manuel Pellegrini's side as Betis prepares for another demanding season.
