Fede Valverde Talks About His Future in Football After Real Madrid and Mentions Two Clubs
The Uruguayan midfielder spoke about his future once he leaves European football and mentioned a possible return to the South American continent
The future of Valverde
Federico Valverde spoke about his future and the possibility of leaving Real Madrid. The Uruguayan midfielder opened up and talked about a potential future away from the Madrid team, mentioning two clubs in the process: River Plate from Argentina and Peñarol from Uruguay.
On the YouTube show Terapia Picante, the Uruguayan spoke about the personal reflections he had made on his career and his journey as a footballer, and he analysed the future as a player and his time in European football.
His position at Real Madrid
These statements were a surprise to some since the Uruguayan midfielder is a key player at Real Madrid, being one of the key players in Arbeloa's tactical setup, having become a very versatile player for the squad and also being decisive in important moments. However, he mentioned a possible return to his roots at Peñarol when his time in Europe comes to an end.
Valverde's statements
"I love Peñarol, my whole family were Peñarol fans and we went to the stadium whenever we could," said the midfielder, "I would love to end my football career winning something important with Peñarol and with Uruguay."
He also expressed admiration for a club located on the other side of the Río de la Plata basin, namely River Plate, a historic club from Argentina, which Valverde remembers very well because in his youth he had access to football broadcasts from that area, being in Uruguay.
"To help people understand why River is talked about so much and why I have River Plate jerseys, it's because at home, Uruguayan football wasn't shown to everyone; it was paid. Argentinian football was (free), however. I could never watch Peñarol, but I watched River Plate every weekend. That's why I've always been a big fan, because I grew up watching it. For me, Argentine football was the best," added the Uruguayan player.
Although his current football career is in Europe and at Real Madrid, the Uruguayan player is already thinking about a possible future back home.
