Eden Hazard’s Unexpected Confession After Retiring From Soccer
Eden Hazard surprises: “Now I’m more of a taxi driver than a footballer”
Nearly three years after his retirement, Eden Hazard, former Real Madrid player, made a striking confession. The Belgian admitted that he now lives a completely different life and feels “more like a taxi driver than a footballer,” referring to his daily routine as a father of five children.
“My life is quite simple. I stay at home and enjoy the simple things with my wife and my five kids. Right now I’m more of a taxi driver than a footballer, but that’s fine,” he said in an interview with the British newspaper The Guardian.
Retired since 2023 after a period marked by constant injuries, Hazard reflected on how quickly time passes: “Life goes by very fast, especially in football. Yesterday I was 19 and today I’m 35. You have to enjoy it.”
Although his time at Real Madrid did not meet expectations — he played just 76 matches after his high-profile transfer from Chelsea — the winger said he does not live with frustration. “I just want to be remembered as a good player and a fun guy. I don’t need anything else,” he explained.
Hazard fondly recalled his best years at Chelsea, where he won two Premier League titles and two Europa League trophies, as well as his experience playing under José Mourinho. “Training with him was incredible,” he said.
He also highlighted the 2018 World Cup in Russia as one of the most special moments of his career, where he captained Belgium to a third-place finish. “It was incredible. I played with my brother and being captain of my country was unique. Even though we didn’t win, people say we were better than France. That makes me proud,” he concluded.
Today, far from the spotlight and pressure, Hazard enjoys a quiet life in Madrid, focused on his family and a new chapter that, in his own words, makes him completely happy.
