CBF Calls on FIFA and UEFA To Conduct Thorough Probe Into Alleged Racism Against Vinicius
Brazil’s football governing body has urged FIFA and UEFA to carry out a full investigation and impose exemplary sanctions following alleged racist insults directed at Vinicius during the Real Madrid vs Benfica clash.
The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has formally requested that FIFA and UEFA act firmly in response to the alleged racist insults directed at Vinícius Júnior during the match between Real Madrid and Benfica in the UEFA Champions League.
The alleged incident reportedly occurred after an exchange between Vinicius and Argentine player Gianluca Prestianni shortly after the Brazilian scored the decisive goal in Real Madrid’s 1-0 victory. Referee François Letexier activated the anti-racism protocol, leading to a temporary suspension of the match.
Prestianni later denied making any racist remarks. Meanwhile, the CBF insists that all testimonies be heard and that firm action be taken to eradicate any form of discrimination in football.
