Bayern Munich Renews Interest in Dani Olmo

  • Dani Olmo is back on Bayern Munich's radar. The German club is closely monitoring the world champion's situation at Barcelona, with several reports suggesting it could consider making a move as early as the winter transfer window.

Dani Olmo Attracts Bayern's Interest Once Again

Dani Olmo's future is beginning to emerge as one of the situations to watch at Barcelona.

The Spanish attacking midfielder remains part of Hansi Flick's plans, but competition for a place in the starting lineup and growing interest from across Europe have brought his name back into the transfer conversation. Bayern Munich is reportedly one of the clubs paying particularly close attention.

Sky Sport Germany had previously reported Bayern's interest in Olmo, while more recent reports have once again identified the 28-year-old as one of the options being considered to strengthen the club's attack.

The interest is hardly surprising. Olmo knows the Bundesliga extremely well after spending four seasons with RB Leipzig, where he won the DFB-Pokal twice and the German Super Cup once. One of his finest performances in Germany actually came against Bayern, when he scored a hat-trick in Leipzig's 3-0 victory in the 2023 Super Cup.

Vincent Kompany Wants More Options in Attack

Olmo's profile fits what Vincent Kompany is reportedly looking for.

His ability to operate as an attacking midfielder, move into different positions and play closer to goal gives Bayern Munich another versatile option as the club evaluates the construction of its squad.

The situations involving Jamal Musiala and Michael Olise have also been linked to the moves the German club could make, although there has been no official announcement suggesting that either player is set to leave.

For that reason, the situation surrounding Olmo should still be treated as transfer interest rather than an active negotiation. So far, there has been no confirmation of a formal offer from Bayern Munich to Barcelona.

Barcelona Would Have a Price to Start Negotiations

That is where one of the most important aspects of a potential deal comes into play.

Transfer journalist Ekrem Konur reports that Barcelona could listen to offers close to €90 million for Dani Olmo. Other reports have placed the potential negotiating range between €80 million and €90 million.

That does not mean the player is officially for sale.

Olmo is under contract with Barcelona until June 30, 2030 and has a €500 million release clause, figures confirmed by the club when it announced his signing from RB Leipzig in August 2024.

The Spaniard also remains part of Hansi Flick's first-team squad for the 2026-27 season and continues to wear the No. 20 shirt.

Competition With Fermín Raises Questions

One factor that could ultimately influence Olmo's future is his playing time.

Since joining Barcelona, the Spaniard has had to compete for minutes in an area of the pitch where Fermín López has also become an important option for Hansi Flick.

Last season, however, Olmo continued to play a significant role. He made 49 appearances, scoring eight goals and providing nine assists during the 2025-26 campaign, when Barcelona once again won LaLiga and the Spanish Super Cup.

His importance is not limited to club football. Olmo featured in every match for Spain during its victorious 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign and provided two assists on the road to the title.

Premier League Clubs Are Also Monitoring Dani Olmo

Bayern Munich would not be the only club keeping an eye on the situation.

Reports from Germany have also linked Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal with the Spanish international, while interest from Saudi Arabia has also been reported.

For now, none of those scenarios has developed into confirmed negotiations.

The starting point remains clear: Dani Olmo is under contract until 2030, remains part of Barcelona's project and there has been no official communication regarding a potential departure.

However, Bayern Munich's renewed interest has brought his name back into the transfer conversation. After already enjoying success with RB Leipzig, Germany could once again become part of the future of a player who knows the Bundesliga extremely well.

  • Olmo is under contract with Barcelona until 2030 and has a €500 million release clause, although reports suggest negotiations could begin at around €80-90 million.
