Barcelona Suffers: Lamine Yamal Injured Again and Will Miss El Clásico Against Real Madrid
FC Barcelona has suffered a major setback ahead of a crucial stretch of the season. The club confirmed that Lamine Yamal will be sidelined for two to three weeks after suffering a relapse of his pubic injury, a problem that had already kept him out of action for much of September.
An untimely relapse
The winger from Mataró returned with discomfort after the last international break, which kept him out of four Barcelona matches. He made his comeback last weekend in the LaLiga win against Real Sociedad (1-3), coming on in the second half. He then played the full 90 minutes in the Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain, which ended in a 2-1 defeat for the Catalans.
However, that effort took its toll, and after the European fixture he once again felt pain in the affected area. The club’s medical staff confirmed it was a relapse and that he will need a recovery period of two to three weeks.
Matches he will miss
Lamine Yamal’s absence comes at a particularly delicate moment. The young forward will not be available for this Sunday’s LaLiga clash against Sevilla, nor for Spain’s upcoming international fixtures under Luis de la Fuente.
In addition, he will miss several high-stakes games: Barcelona will host Girona on October 18, face Olympiacos on the 21st in the Champions League, and close the month with El Clásico against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu on October 26.
A blow for Hansi Flick
Coach Hansi Flick loses one of his most decisive players right in the middle of a packed run of fixtures. The absence of the No. 10 forces him to reshape Barcelona’s attack, with players like Ferran Torres, Raphinha, or even Dani Olmo expected to take on greater roles in the coming weeks.
The club hopes that conservative treatment will allow Lamine Yamal to return in full form after this new layoff, though concerns remain, as pubic injuries are notoriously tricky and prone to recurrence.
At just 17 years old, the Catalan forward had already become a key attacking reference for Barcelona, and his absence will be felt both in LaLiga and in Europe. Within the dressing room, the hope is that this setback will be only a minor one, and that the young talent can be back as soon as possible for the major challenges ahead.
