Barcelona Speeds Up Camp Nou Works Seeking Permission to Play Against Valencia
Barcelona is working at full speed on the renovations of the Spotify Camp Nou, as this coming Monday they will meet with the City Council, Fire Department, and Urban Guard to obtain the green light to play there against Valencia.
Visit from the Club’s Board
To this end, Joan Laporta, club president, Elena Fort, institutional vice president, and Xavi Puig, board member, visited the site to assess the chances of meeting the standards required by authorities in order to open the stadium to fans.
Laporta even took a moment to test the new pitch — not in the traditional way, but by lying down on it, in an image that surprised the construction workers.
Alternative Plans: Johan Cruyff
The Blaugrana remain calm, knowing that authorization will not be easy. As a precaution, they have already prepared the Estadi Johan Cruyff to host the match between Barcelona and Valencia. However, LaLiga would need to make an exception, since the venue only holds 6,000 spectators.
Many wonder why they are not using the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, as they did last season. The reality is that it will not be available until September 20, due to Post Malone concerts scheduled on the same dates as the Barcelona vs. Valencia clash.
The final decision will come on Monday: will the Culés finally return to the Camp Nou?
