Barcelona Sign Strategic Partnership With DR Congo: Will It Affect Their Transfer Market Moves?
FC Barcelona have secured a unique new sponsorship deal that not only boosts their global image but could also play a key role in easing financial constraints ahead of the summer transfer window. In their continued efforts to operate within LaLiga’s financial fair play rules, the club is finding creative ways to generate income.
Who is Barcelona’s new partner?
On Wednesday, Barcelona and the Government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) announced a four-year sponsorship deal focused on promoting sports, education, and peace throughout the African nation. The agreement, described by the club as a “shared commitment to multi-sport development”, blends both commercial and institutional cooperation.
This partnership will provide brand visibility, cultural exchange, and direct collaboration between the club and the DRC.

What does the deal include?
Through the Barça Academies, the club will introduce its training model in football, basketball, handball, futsal, and roller hockey, aimed at youth development in the DRC. In addition, coaching education programs will be launched via the Barça Innovation Hub, focusing on sports science, technical planning, and age-specific development.
For the next four seasons, all professional Barcelona teams will wear the logo “RD Congo – Coeur de Afrique” on the back of their training kits. The upcoming Espai Barça project will also feature a “Casa de la RDC”, a cultural space highlighting the rich heritage and sporting traditions of the Congolese nation.
How much is the deal worth?
While neither FC Barcelona nor the DRC government disclosed official figures, reports suggest the agreement could be worth around €44 million over the 2024–2029 period.
This financial boost could provide much-needed relief for Barcelona, who continue to navigate economic limitations. With the right salary margin adjustments, this new income could even facilitate one more summer signing before the transfer window closes.
