Barcelona Reported Over Camp Nou Renovation
The Spotify Camp Nou renovation faces major setbacks: Barcelona has been reported by the Guardia Urbana and still lacks the Final Work Certificate, putting its planned return to the stadium on September 14 in doubt.
Camp Nou works under scrutiny
The renovation of the Spotify Camp Nou continues to spark controversy. Last Sunday, the Guardia Urbana of Barcelona reported Barcelona and the construction company Limak for carrying out unauthorized work on a day without a permit. The club is only allowed to work Monday to Friday between 8 a.m. and midnight, and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. However, activity was detected on Sunday, resulting in a €300 fine and the expulsion of workers from the site.
This episode adds pressure on the Blaugrana board, led by Joan Laporta, to meet deadlines. The club’s plan is to reopen its renovated stadium on September 14 in the match against Valencia, but administrative irregularities could delay this long-awaited return.
Final Work Certificate still missing
Beyond fines, the biggest problem is that Barcelona has yet to obtain the Final Work Certificate (CFO), a document required to open the stadium to fans. Authorities from the Ajuntament inspected the venue on Monday and confirmed the club still lacks official approval.
