Barça Shape Their Attack: Rashford and Ferran Impress, Lewandowski on the Edge and Julián Álvarez Targeted
The plan is taking shape ahead of the summer. Two names are gaining ground in the project, while a historic figure sees his future drifting further away from Camp Nou.
A plan taking shape before the transfer window
Even though the season is not yet over, FC Barcelona are already working ahead of time on the squad for next year. The sporting department, led by Deco, has outlined a clear roadmap for the attacking line, while waiting to confirm whether the club will be able to operate under the 1:1 financial fair play rule during the summer transfer window.
Internally, optimism remains, and under that scenario Barça aim to make strategic decisions that will define their attack in the medium term — prioritizing continuity in some cases and a deeper overhaul in others.
Rashford and Ferran, key pieces to build around
One of the strongest cases is Marcus Rashford. The club is pleased with his performances and the plan is to activate the €30 million purchase option at the end of the season, a figure viewed as very attractive in today’s market. His adaptation and attacking influence have convinced the sporting staff, although the final decision will depend on how the season concludes.
Ferran Torres is also gaining momentum. Under contract until 2027, the forward has enjoyed a very solid campaign and his market value has risen significantly. While formal talks have not yet begun, the club’s intention is to extend his deal, fully aware of his growth, consistency, and goal contribution in key moments.
Lewandowski, an increasingly uncertain future
The most delicate situation surrounds Robert Lewandowski. While his performances remain positive and he has accepted a reduced role without causing disruption, his continuity is far from guaranteed. The striker turns 38 in August, his salary is high, and the club believes the physical toll of injuries is becoming an increasingly decisive factor.
Even with a potential pay cut, his wages would still represent a significant financial burden. On top of that, markets such as Saudi Arabia and the United States are willing to offer him very lucrative contracts, further complicating his future at Barça.
Priority: signing a top-level No.9
With that scenario in mind, Barça have already defined their main objective: signing a top striker. The sporting department considers this a higher priority than reinforcing the defense. If the club can operate under the 1:1 rule, a major investment is not ruled out.
Among the names on the table is Julián Álvarez, a profile appreciated by both the sporting department and Hansi Flick, although his signing would likely cost around €100 million. Another option is Harry Kane, whose release clause is reportedly set at €65 million, though his salary would be extremely high.
Alternatives if financial margins shrink
If the financial scenario becomes more restrictive, Barça are also considering more affordable options such as Dušan Vlahović or Serhou Guirassy, which would fit a more conservative plan. Final decisions, however, will be made later, once both the economic and sporting context are fully defined.
The roadmap is already in place. Now Barça wait for the numbers — and performances — to follow suit.
