Atlético de Madrid Trolls FC Barcelona After First Offer for Julián Álvarez
Rejected Bid Sparks Social Media Mockery
In recent hours, several media outlets have reported that Julián Álvarez could be headed to FC Barcelona. According to Marca, the Catalan club already submitted an initial offer, which was rejected by Atlético de Madrid. That immediately triggered a spectacular reaction on social media from the Madrid-based side.
Through a post online, Atlético de Madrid made a “formal offer” for Lamine Yamal: four tickets to a Bad Bunny concert, a one-year subscription to ABC newspaper, and a bag of sunflower seeds. The post was a clear jab at Barcelona’s proposal, which reportedly fell far short of the Spanish club’s valuation of the Argentine striker.
But that was not all. The club also “announced” the signings of Pedri and Raphinha, alongside the message: “It took us five minutes to create this hoax. Don’t believe everything you see, especially if it’s related to FC Barcelona.”
The Julián Álvarez Saga Continues to Heat Up
After the ironic posts regarding the supposed arrivals of Lamine Yamal, Pedri, and Raphinha, Atlético de Madrid released a more serious statement condemning attacks and fake news connected to the Catalan club.
Barcelona’s interest in Julián Álvarez is real, and reports indicate there have already been contacts and even a formal offer. However, Atlético has no intention of letting “La Araña” leave for less than $175 million.
According to Marca, people within Atlético de Madrid view all the leaks and reports surrounding the Álvarez situation as “another lie” coming from the Blaugrana environment, allegedly aimed at pressuring the club into selling one of its biggest stars.
Without a doubt, the situation has ignited social media, and it does not appear likely to end anytime soon. Meanwhile, the Argentine forward has joined the Argentina National Team, which will look to defend its world title in North America this summer.
So far, the player has not made any public statements and has remained on the sidelines of the controversy while focusing on preparations with his national team for the upcoming FIFA World Cup.
