Antoine Griezmann’s Legendary Numbers at Atlético de Madrid
Antoine Griezmann brings his historic spell with Atlético de Madrid to a close and will continue his career in the MLS with Orlando City SC.
The era of Antoine Griezmann at Atlético de Madrid has officially come to an end. The club confirmed that their all-time leading scorer will depart at the end of the season, closing a chapter that defined one of the most successful periods in the team’s recent history.
The French forward, a World Cup winner and a cornerstone of Diego Simeone’s project, is set to begin a new journey in the MLS, where he will join Orlando City SC. The deal is already in place, and the player has reportedly traveled to the United States to finalize details during the international break.
A lasting legacy at Atlético
Griezmann’s story with Atlético de Madrid began in 2014 after his move from Real Sociedad. From that moment, he quickly became the team’s attacking leader and one of Europe’s most decisive players in his role.
His numbers speak for themselves: 488 appearances, 211 goals, and 97 assists, making him the club’s all-time top scorer, surpassing legendary figures such as Luis Aragonés.
His time at the club also brought major silverware, including the Europa League 2018, the UEFA Super Cup 2018, and the Spanish Super Cup 2014, along with countless decisive performances on the biggest stages.
Beyond statistics, Griezmann built a deep connection with the fans, becoming one of the defining symbols of Simeone’s era over the past decade.
Orlando City and a new MLS challenge
At 35, Antoine Griezmann is ready to embrace a new chapter in the United States with Orlando City SC, where he will join as a Designated Player starting in July 2026.

The deal includes multiple seasons with an option for extension, highlighting the club’s ambition to bring in a global star. In the MLS, the French forward will share the spotlight with players like Lionel Messi, further strengthening the league’s appeal as a destination for elite talent.
Although his departure is now official, Griezmann still has unfinished business with Atlético de Madrid. The club remains in contention for the Copa del Rey, where they will face Real Sociedad in the final, and is also preparing for a Champions League quarterfinal clash against Barcelona.
