Anthony Gordon Joins Barcelona
As confirmed by Fabrizio Romano, Anthony Gordon will become a new player for FC Barcelona next season. The English forward will leave Newcastle United and become one of the club’s major attacking reinforcements ahead of the upcoming campaign.
The deal is reportedly worth around €70 million plus add-ons, potentially reaching a total close to €80 million. Gordon is expected to arrive in Barcelona in the coming days to complete his medical examinations before joining the team for preseason preparations.
A Versatile Addition to Barça’s Attack
The English attacker stands out for his versatility across the front line. Although his natural position is on the left wing — an area currently occupied by captain Raphinha — he is also capable of playing on the right flank to compete with Lamine Yamal, or even as a center forward, providing attacking alternatives alongside Ferran Torres while helping ease the transition following the era of Robert Lewandowski.
Gordon already knows what it means to face Barcelona and make an impact. During the opening matchday of last season’s UEFA Champions League, he scored against the Catalan side in the Magpies’ victory over the Spanish giants. That performance further confirmed the rise of a player who continues to establish himself as one of English football’s brightest young talents.
His season with Newcastle United was highly productive. He made 46 appearances and scored 17 goals, while also contributing pace, high pressing, and constant one-on-one threat.

Anthony Gordon fits perfectly into the dynamic and vertical style of play that Hansi Flick wants to implement at Barcelona. He is an explosive player, highly intense off the ball, and aggressive when attacking open spaces.
