Anthony Gordon Is Losing His Influence at Barcelona as His Numbers Raise Concerns

Anthony Gordon began his Barcelona journey as one of the club’s most promising signings, but his impact has declined in recent matches. His situation is raising questions within Hansi Flick’s squad.

Anthony Gordon Is Losing His Influence at Barcelona as Questions Begin to Emerge

Anthony Gordon's journey at Barcelona began with high expectations. The English winger quickly became an important part of Hansi Flick's team. His connection with Lamine Yamal and Raphinha promised to give Barcelona's attack new options.

However, his influence has declined in recent weeks. Although he continues to bring intensity and movement, his contributions are no longer having the same impact on match results. The situation is beginning to raise concerns, especially given the expectations surrounding his arrival.

From Five Assists to an Offensive Drought: The Numbers Worrying Barcelona

Gordon recorded five assists in his first four LaLiga appearances, quickly becoming one of the team's most productive players. However, he failed to register another assist in his next five league matches and managed just one goal, against Getafe.

He has also struggled to regain his influence in the Champions League. Gordon scored against Galatasaray, but failed to add any assists to his tally.

The problem goes beyond his statistics. Gordon continues to run, press and look for ways to contribute in attack, but he is struggling to make the right decisions and finish chances when he gets near the goal. For a player Barcelona signed for more than $78 million, plus add-ons, the lack of goals and assists is becoming a warning sign.

Defeats to PSG and Real Madrid Increase the Pressure on Gordon

The Englishman's dip in form comes at a difficult time for Barcelona, who have suffered consecutive defeats against Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid. The loss in El Clásico also ended the team's nine-match winning streak in LaLiga.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Gordon was among the players who attended a team gathering organized to strengthen dressing-room unity following those setbacks.

While his defensive work and willingness to take on opponents continue to be valued, Barcelona needs him to rediscover his decisive touch. Expectations are even higher in important matches, where signings of this magnitude are expected to make a difference.

Aston Villa and Alavés Offer Two Opportunities for Gordon to Rediscover His Best Form

The upcoming matches against Aston Villa and Alavés represent important opportunities for Gordon to regain his confidence. The English winger needs to create more danger, improve his finishing and show that he can reclaim the influence he had at the start of the season.

He remains a valuable attacking option for Hansi Flick, but his performances need to match the versatility he brings to the team. Barcelona's investment and the expectations surrounding his signing continue to put pressure on the winger.
