“No Repercussions”: Xabi Alonso Puts an End to the Controversy With Vinícius
- Xabi Alonso has officially closed the Vinícius controversy after the Clásico. The Real Madrid coach made it clear: the apology was sincere, and the matter is over.
Xabi Alonso Closes the Vinícius Case
Ahead of Real Madrid’s clash against Valencia, Xabi Alonso addressed the media and made his position crystal clear regarding Vinícius Junior’s behavior during the Clásico. The coach was firm yet calm:
“Did Vinícius apologize to me? We had a meeting with everyone on Wednesday, and Vinícius was impeccable. He spoke honestly and handled it very well. For me, the issue is over.”
The Brazilian forward had already issued a public apology on social media, in addition to his personal words to the coach during training. Alonso praised his gesture as a sign of maturity and leadership:
“It was a very valuable and positive statement. He showed honesty and spoke from the heart. What he said was the most important thing, and I was very satisfied. I’ve said it before — I’m proud of him, and the matter was resolved that same day. He trained well afterward, I see him focused, and we’re all rowing in the same direction.”
“No Repercussions”
Alonso wanted to end any speculation about disciplinary action or internal tension. His message was clear: Vinícius has his full trust.
“It’s done. We have a game tomorrow, and there will be no repercussions. The team — and everyone, including Vinícius — is focused on what really matters. Everyone wants to be on the pitch. The mindset is the same. We want to move forward with confidence.”
The Real Madrid coach emphasized unity and professionalism, ensuring that the team’s attention remains solely on performance and results.

Real Madrid Shifts Focus to Valencia
When asked about possible rotations for the upcoming LaLiga match, Alonso was straightforward:
“It could happen, but not thinking about Tuesday — thinking about tomorrow. In the Champions League you can recover lost points, but not in LaLiga. Valencia won at the Bernabéu last year, and we can’t relax.”
The Spanish coach also highlighted the demanding schedule ahead:
“After a positive first week, we have another tough one with two league matches and then the Champions League. We want to finish this block with good results.”
With these words, Xabi Alonso not only closed the Vinícius Jr. controversy but also reinforced the sense of unity and focus that defines his Real Madrid project.
