Although reports back in January suggested a verbal agreement had been reached to extend his contract, the months have passed and the deal remains unsigned. According to Spanish media, the issue lies in the financial terms—Vini is seeking a salary similar to Kylian Mbappé’s, something the club is reportedly unwilling to match.

This has sparked fresh speculation about possible offers from the Saudi Pro League, where no formal bid has been made yet, but interest could increase if tensions continue to grow.

“Now is not the time to pressure the president”

Amid the silence from the club, former Madrid defender Rafa Alkorta decided to speak up. In an interview with El Larguero, he warned Vinicius about the risks of pushing too hard:

“Now is not the time to pressure Florentino… We all saw what happened with Sergio Ramos.”

The Ramos case is still fresh. The former captain had been negotiating a contract renewal in 2021 that seemed close to completion, but the club unexpectedly pulled the offer. The message was clear: with Florentino Pérez, no one is above the institution.

Although Xabi Alonso sees him as a key part of the club’s future, Vinicius’ camp remains dissatisfied with the current proposal. And while a summer departure seems unlikely, the tension is growing.
