Álvaro Arbeloa Calls It a “Special Day” at His Official Presentation as Real Madrid Head Coach
Álvaro Arbeloa acknowledged this Tuesday that he is experiencing “a special day” during his official presentation as the new head coach of Real Madrid. The Spanish coach officially takes charge of the club’s first team, fully aware of the immense responsibility that comes with leading one of the biggest institutions in world football, and said he is embracing the challenge “with great excitement.”
“For me, this is a special day, just like every day I’ve been part of Real Madrid,” Arbeloa said. “I’m 42 years old, I’ll turn 43 on Saturday, and I’ve spent 20 years at this club. Every single day I’ve been at the best club in the world and in history has been special to me. Today is one of those days—fully aware of the responsibility I carry, of the wonderful challenge and task ahead, and with so, so much excitement,” the new Madrid coach stated.
Arbeloa Replaces Xabi Alonso on the Real Madrid Bench
During his appearance, Arbeloa revealed that on Monday afternoon he was informed that the club and Xabi Alonso had mutually agreed to part ways. Shortly after, the board decided to entrust him with the leadership of Real Madrid’s first team, marking a new era at the Santiago Bernabéu.
“I spoke with Xabi yesterday. You all know the relationship and friendship that binds us, the respect I have for him, and that will remain mutual,” Arbeloa added, underlining the professionalism and personal closeness he shares with his predecessor on the Madrid bench.
Xabi Alonso’s Farewell Message to Real Madrid
Xabi Alonso officially said goodbye to Real Madrid with a brief yet elegant message on social media, thanking the club’s board for their trust, the players for their commitment, and the unwavering support of Madrid supporters.
“This professional chapter comes to an end, and it didn’t turn out the way we would have liked. Coaching Real Madrid has been an honor and a great responsibility,” Alonso wrote on his official Instagram account, alongside two images of himself leading the team.
“I thank the club, the players, and above all the fans and Madridismo for their trust and support. I leave with respect, gratitude, and the pride of having given everything,” the Spanish coach concluded, officially closing his chapter at the helm of the Madrid bench.
