Álvaro Arbeloa Hopes for Vinícius Jr.’s Renewal but Does Not Interfere in Real Madrid’s Decisions
Arbeloa confirms Rodrygo’s return and addresses Vinícius renewal talks at Real Madrid
Álvaro Arbeloa, head coach of Real Madrid, confirmed a key piece of news for the club on Friday: Brazilian forward Rodrygo Goes has recovered and will be included in the squad for the LaLiga match against Villarreal. The coach also spoke about the future of Vinícius Júnior and the ongoing talks regarding his contract renewal.
“Rodrygo will be in the squad,” Arbeloa said, confirming the attacker’s return after overcoming the physical issues that had kept him sidelined since the Spanish Super Cup final. The Brazilian missed the last three official matches, so his comeback represents a significant boost at a decisive point in the season.
Since taking charge, Arbeloa has shown strong support for Vinícius Júnior, particularly during moments of tension with fans at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu. The coach recalled how the Brazilian winger managed to turn public perception around with decisive performances, such as the one against AS Monaco in the UEFA Champions League.
Regarding Vinícius’ potential renewal, Arbeloa avoided contractual specifics but made his stance clear:
“That’s not for me to decide. It’s a matter between Vinícius and the club. My job is to get the best out of the players, and my wish is for Vinícius to keep making history at Real Madrid.”
Rodrygo’s return and Vinícius Júnior’s continuity emerge as two key factors for a Real Madrid side aiming to remain competitive in LaLiga and in Europe at a crucial stage of the calendar.
