Real Madrid's New Project to Scout Talent in the United States
Real Madrid has launched a project to identify top prospects in the United States
In recent years, despite the national team not going through its best moment following recent performances in the Copa América and the CONCACAF Nations League, the United States has become one of the countries exporting the most soccer talent worldwide. In fact, more and more young players are moving to Europe. Examples include Gio Reyna and Cavan Sullivan. This is a situation that hasn’t gone unnoticed by Real Madrid, which has launched a new project aimed at discovering talent in the United States.

Real Madrid is looking for a ‘Dream Team’ in the United States
For quite some time now, Real Madrid's academy has welcomed players from all over the world—and increasingly younger ones. Transfers in professional soccer are becoming more expensive, and Real Madrid realized the need to get ahead in the talent identification process. The first major example was Martin Odegaard, whom they signed at just 16 years old. However, other talents such as Neymar, Mbappé, and Julián Álvarez have been known to have trained at Valdebebas over the years.
Now, Real Madrid wants to take things a step further and, in collaboration with Abbot, has created a project to find the best young talents born in the United States. More than 1,000 players between the ages of 18 and 19 will take part in tryouts in hopes of being selected to join the ‘Dream Team’ that will ultimately train at Real Madrid's prestigious training center.
The Experience Will Start in Dallas and End in Los Angeles
According to reports, Real Madrid will set up camps across different cities in the United States, each hosting up to 250 players. The experience will begin on June 17 in Dallas and conclude on July 24 in Los Angeles. A month of continuous evaluation in search of the best talents born in the United States, also making stops in Philadelphia, Washington, and Chicago.
It’s an ambitious project where only the best will get to train at Valdebebas to complete their development. Additionally, the chosen players will be invited to a match at the Santiago Bernabéu. “I benefited from top-level nutrition programming during my career as a footballer, and I know how crucial a solid health foundation is for reaching your full potential. This program has the power to change young athletes’ lives and help them thrive,” said Clint Dempsey, who spent a large part of his career in the Premier League.
