Raphinha signs new deal and admits: "My dream is to stay at Barça until the end of my career"
Brazilian winger Raphael Dias 'Raphinha' has renewed his contract with FC Barcelona until June 30, 2028, and says he's living his dream. "I'm really happy. This was a personal goal of mine, and I hope to keep bringing joy to the fans. My dream is to stay here until the end of my career, and I’ll keep giving my best," he told the club’s official media.
A breakout season
At 28, Raphinha is enjoying the best football of his career. In his third season at Barça, he’s smashed all his personal records: 34 goals and 22 assists in 4,567 minutes, across 56 matches (52 as a starter) — and there's still one game left. From almost leaving for Saudi Arabia, as he openly admitted, to becoming one of the key players under Hansi Flick, it’s been quite the turnaround.
"I want to keep scoring goals and creating chances," he said. "Winning titles with this shirt, celebrating with the fans during the parade, that’s what I play for."
Maturity, leadership, and a bright future at Camp Nou
Signed in the summer of 2022 from Leeds United, Raphinha talked about how much he’s grown since arriving in Barcelona. "I’ve matured a lot. Now I’m a dad, a leader — the guy who has to take on more responsibility than when I first got here. It’s not that I wasn’t responsible before, but time passes, and you grow up," he reflected.
He’s also excited about the team’s return to the Spotify Camp Nou, scheduled for September. "I can’t wait to play there again. It’s our home, and I want to keep making great memories in this shirt," the Brazil international concluded.
