Julián Álvarez to Barcelona? Agent Reveals Where His Future Might Lie
Rumors surrounding a potential move of Julián Álvarez to FC Barcelona are gaining traction again. While the Argentine striker is currently thriving at Atlético de Madrid, his name has surfaced as a possible successor to Robert Lewandowski, whose contract with Barça runs until 2026.
Barça Interest and Player Affinity
In a recent appearance on the podcast Solo para culés, Álvarez’s agent, Fernando Hidalgo, acknowledged the growing speculation:
“His day-to-day is at Atlético. We’ll see how negotiations evolve. Football changes quickly. The club would have to be approached, and then they’ll assess the situation.”
More than just a footballing fit, Álvarez has long held an emotional connection with Barcelona, partly due to his admiration for Lionel Messi and the club’s signature style of play. According to Hidalgo, this bond could play a crucial role if a formal offer arrives in future transfer windows.
A Standout Season at Atlético
Since his €75M move from Manchester City, Álvarez has been phenomenal for Atlético de Madrid, becoming their main offensive threat. With 29 goals and 7 assists in 54 matches, he’s one of Europe’s most in-form attackers.
Even Barça’s rising star Pau Cubarsí recently praised his talent, a compliment that didn’t go unnoticed by the player.

Atlético’s Firm Stance
Despite the growing buzz, Atlético Madrid remains firm. Club president Enrique Cerezo made it crystal clear:
“Julián is our player. He’s staying. He’ll grow here and finish his career here.”
The message to Barça is straightforward: if they want La Araña, they’ll have to negotiate with a club that sees him as untouchable in their project.
