Ancelotti: "I love Madrid and want to stay here"
The Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti weighed in on renewing his contract with Real Madrid for two more years, until 2026, expressing his happiness about his wish to continue being fulfilled. He was grateful to the Brazilian Confederation for their interest and stated that it would be his "last bench."
"It's my final stint, not sure if it'll be that year, but I confirm it's my last. When it ends, I don't know. It could be 2026 or continuing here after. It depends on the success we can achieve. I want to coach until that year and hopefully until 2028 because I love Madrid and want to stay here," added the Italian.
Ancelotti also talked about the Brazilian Football Confederation and specifically about Ednaldo Rodrigues, who, when he was president, showed interest in the Italian coach taking charge of the Brazilian team for the World Cup cycle leading to 2026.
"Everyone knows it, it's reality. Real Madrid knows I had contact with the president of the Brazilian Federation, Ednaldo Rodrigues, whom I thank for the affection and interest in having me coach the Brazilian national team," he explained.
"It made me feel proud and honored, but everything depended on the situation with Real Madrid. It was clear to everyone. In the end, it turned out the way I wanted, staying here," he confessed.
Ancelotti also talked about the possibility of being Brazil's coach from 2026. "I can contemplate it, thinking about being Brazil's coach is a great dream, but I don't know if they'll want me in 2026. I'm not sure if they're happy with my decision."
To conclude, 'Carletto' expressed gratitude to Real Madrid for their trust in his work and highlighted President Florentino Pérez.
"It means a lot to me that the club wants to continue with my work. Florentino Pérez's journey at Real Madrid is fantastic and continues to be so. He has very clear ideas about the future. That's why the club is in very good hands," commented the Italian coach to conclude the press conference.
