How Much Could Enzo Fernandez Cost Real Madrid?
The Chelsea midfielder continues to shine under Maresca, but Los Blancos' interest hasn’t faded—and the price is steep.
Enzo Fernández has become a key figure for Chelsea this season. With seven goals and thirteen assists in 44 matches across all competitions, the Argentine has flourished under head coach Enzo Maresca, just as reports of renewed interest from Real Madrid begin to surface once again.
A Longtime Target Still on Real Madrid’s Radar
Real Madrid had already shown interest in Fernández before Chelsea secured his signing from Benfica in January 2023, paying a then-British record fee of £106.8 million. While the deal didn't materialize for the Spanish giants at the time, the World Cup winner’s name has never disappeared from their transfer agenda.
With Xabi Alonso set to take charge at the Bernabéu and both clubs participating in the upcoming Club World Cup, the midfielder's future is once again under the spotlight. According to BBC Sport, there is “known interest” from Real Madrid, though Chelsea reportedly has no intention of selling. However, sources close to the club suggest they would only consider offers that exceed the amount paid last year.
Enzo’s Value Is Rising With His Performances
Maresca’s coaching has played a significant role in Enzo Fernández’s evolution. The manager recently said, “We’ve been working with him since day one to increase his goal and assist numbers. He’s improved a lot, but I believe he can still reach 10 to 15 goals per season.”
Fernández himself echoed that sentiment in May, saying, “I’m really happy with my numbers. Being a box-to-box midfielder, these are strong stats. It was tough at the beginning to adapt to Maresca’s ideas, but now I fully understand what he expects from me.” The Argentine has even played through bouts of conjunctivitis, underlining his dedication.
While Chelsea appears satisfied with his progress and contribution, modern football often leaves the door open. If Real Madrid truly wants to land Enzo Fernández, they’ll have to dig deep and offer more than £106.8 million. Is Florentino Pérez willing to make that kind of investment in the future of Argentina’s midfield? The upcoming transfer window will reveal the answer.
