FC Barcelona has completed the signing of one of Scandinavia’s most exciting young prospects: Roony Bardghji, a 19-year-old Swedish right winger from FC Copenhagen. Known for his speed, technical ability, and deadly left foot when cutting inside, Bardghji joins the Catalan giants for around $2.1 million, plus add-ons, with the Danish club also keeping a 15% sell-on clause.
Born in Kuwait to Syrian parents, Bardghji was raised and developed in Sweden, where he played for Malmö FF before moving to Denmark at just 14. His rise was fast: he made his pro debut at 16 and gained international attention after scoring a match-winner against Manchester United in the Champions League at 17—becoming the youngest player ever to score against the English club.
From injury setback to Barça dream
In 2024, he hit a rough patch with a serious ACL injury that sidelined him for nearly a year. Still, Barcelona stayed interested and, after clearing medical tests, Bardghji will now add depth to a position that needs it—especially with Lamine Yamal and Raphinha carrying the load in attack under manager Hans-Dieter Flick.
The plan is to start Roony Bardghji with Barça Atlètic for his adaptation, though there’s a chance he could train with the first team or even go out on loan depending on how he progresses in preseason. Either way, the club sees him as a long-term investment with big potential.
Often compared to players like Eden Hazard, Mohamed Salah, or even Arjen Robben for his style of play, Bardghji is known for his flair, directness, and upside. If he finds his rhythm again, he could end up being one of the breakout stars in European football over the next few seasons.
