Tuchel says England do not need to leave Wembley after criticising atmosphere
Despite criticising the atmosphere at Wembley Stadium, Thomas Tuchel does not believe England need to take more games on the road.
Thomas Tuchel does not believe England need to play more home matches away from Wembley Stadium, having criticised the atmosphere following a 3-0 win over Wales.
Tuchel said his team deserved more vocal backing in the aftermath of Thursday's friendly, which saw Morgan Rogers, Ollie Watkins and Bukayo Saka score inside the opening 20 minutes.
The German claimed the home fans were "silent" during the second half of that game, which represented England's eighth straight victory over Wales in all competitions.
England have previously taken lower-profile games on the road, most recently beating Andorra 1-0 at a sold-out Villa Park in September.
Tuchel's only defeat in charge of the Three Lions came in a friendly against Senegal at the City Ground in June, while St James' Park, Old Trafford, Molineux (twice) and the Riverside Stadium (twice) have all hosted the senior team since fans returned to stadiums in 2021.
But when asked if Wembley was the issue, Tuchel said: "No, we don't need to make it a big thing. I just thought that the team deserved more.
"I felt like the boys and the team deserved a bit more of a spark and in the second half they [the fans] could have helped us."
England visit Latvia for their sixth game in Group K in World Cup qualifying on Tuesday, and they could seal their place at the tournament with a win, should Serbia drop points against Albania on Saturday.
