Aiming for the World Cup

Richarlison's current situation reflects a complex scenario, both on an individual and a team level. The Brazilian striker from Brazil is going through a difficult period at Tottenham Hotspur, which is in the relegation zone in the Premier League, and his place on the Brazilian national team for the 2026 World Cup  is also in doubt. His possible second participation in a World Cup

At 28 years old, Richarlison is seeking his second World Cup appearance after being in Qatar 2022, where he played minutes in four of the five matches for the Verdeamarela. However, his absence in the friendlies in March against France and Croatia raised alarms. In an interview with France Football, he confessed that he wants to leave behind distractions and personal problems that affected him in the past: "I had to deal with family and personal matters that affected my concentration," he acknowledged.

His trajectory with the Canarinha includes 54 matches: 24 friendlies, 16 World Cup qualifiers, 10 Copa América, and four in World Cups, with a tally of 20 goals and eight assists. At Tottenham, on the other hand, his numbers are more modest: 10 goals in 37 matches.

"If I play in the next World Cup, I'll leave my phone at home," said the football player as a promise.

Ancelotti's final call-up will be announced on May 18, and not only Richarlison is in doubt: Neymar is also awaiting confirmation. Brazil, which will be looking for its sixth star, will share Group C with Morocco, Haiti, and Scotland. It will debut on June 13 in New Jersey, then play against Haiti on the 19th in Philadelphia, and close the group stage on the 24th against Scotland in Miami.
