What happened to Raphinha? Brazil provides first injury update after Haiti scare
Brazil was dealt a major scare during its World Cup clash against Haiti after Raphinha was forced off the field before halftime.
Brazil was dealt a major scare during its World Cup clash against Haiti after Raphinha was forced off the field before halftime.
The Barcelona winger left looking concerned, and the biggest question now is whether he will be able to continue playing in the FIFA World Cup 2026.
For now, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has provided an initial update on his condition.
What injury does Raphinha have?
According to the CBF, the forward experienced pain in the back of his right thigh and immediately began treatment.
"The attacker felt pain in the posterior muscle of his right thigh during the first half of the match against Haiti. The player has already started treatment and will be re-evaluated," the federation said in a statement.
Although there is not yet a definitive diagnosis, the injury raises concerns given Raphinha's importance to Carlo Ancelotti's plans.

Ancelotti urges patience
Speaking after the match, Brazil's head coach avoided making any early predictions.
"Raphinha will be evaluated tomorrow. Right now, we don't have a clear idea of what happened with the hamstring," the Italian manager told reporters.
The winger's condition over the coming days will determine whether he can feature again during the group stage.
Vinícius Júnior also reacted to the injury and emphasized how important Raphinha is to the squad.
"Suffering an injury is always very difficult, especially for Raphinha, who is a very important player for us and has already dealt with a lot of injuries this season. Hopefully it's nothing serious and he can stay with us until the end of the World Cup," said the Real Madrid forward.
Brazil waits anxiously
Raphinha walked off the Lincoln Financial Field pitch with his head down as teammates tried to encourage him.
He was replaced by Rayan, the youngest player in Brazil's World Cup squad and a Bournemouth prospect.
After a quiet opener against Morocco, Raphinha appeared to be regaining rhythm and confidence. Now, Brazil awaits further medical tests to determine the severity of the setback.
The Seleção can only hope one of its key stars remains available in the quest for a sixth World Cup title.
