Tom Holland’s curious promise if England wins the World Cup
Tom Holland surprises with a promise for England
Tom Holland has shown that his passion for sports goes far beyond superhero movies.
The British actor, known worldwide for playing Spider-Man, surprised fans by revealing the major sacrifice he would be willing to make if England wins the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The statement came during his appearance on The Tonight Show, hosted by Jimmy Fallon, as excitement continued to build around the Three Lions’ decisive run in the tournament.

The sacrifice he would make to see England crowned champions
During the interview, Fallon asked Holland what he would be willing to do if he could guarantee that the England national team lifted the trophy.
The actor’s answer quickly drew attention. Holland said he would give up golf forever, one of his greatest passions outside acting, in exchange for seeing his country crowned world champions.
“Golf is my favorite thing to do in the world, and if that meant I could bring the title home to England, I would never play again,” he said.
The magnitude of the promise sparked an immediate reaction from the audience, especially because the actor has spoken on many occasions about his love for the sport.
England looks to end a long wait
The Three Lions advanced as group winners before defeating the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mexico and Norway in the knockout rounds.
Now, Thomas Tuchel’s team is looking to move closer to its second world title and end a wait that began after its historic triumph in 1966.
Spider-Man’s connection to the 2026 World Cup
Before Argentina’s opening match, the actor also sent a message to Julián Álvarez, whose nickname, “The Spider,” and trademark celebration are linked to the famous Marvel character.
Holland said the Argentine forward would make a great Spider-Man and admitted that he had even included him in his World Cup Fantasy team.
The actor also shared a curious story involving Erling Haaland, who apparently never replied to a message Holland sent him after they met at the Monaco Grand Prix.
However, none of those stories generated as much attention as the promise now tied to England’s dream: giving up one of his greatest passions for the chance to see the Three Lions on top of the world.
