This Is the Sanction That Could Be Imposed on Madibo for His Tackle on Koné.
Assim Madibo was sent off after a harsh tackle on Ismaël Koné and might not play against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The incident
In the match between Canada and Qatar, Ismaël Koné suffered a hard tackle from Assim Madibo. The incident occurred in the 51st minute and caused immediate concern. The Qatari player himself put his hands to his head when he saw the condition of his opponent. Chilean referee Cristian Garay showed a straight red card. In the absence of an official diagnosis, everything indicates a possible tibia fracture for Koné
The possible penalty
According to FIFA regulations, a red card dismissal means automatic suspension for the next match. Madibo will not be able to play against Bosnia and Herzegovina, a key match for Qatar in the group stage. The Disciplinary Code provides for tougher sanctions, a minimum of two games for rough and serious play. If the penalty is limited to one match, the midfielder would arrive "clean" for the knockout stages, since yellow cards are canceled after the group stage and the quarter-finals.
The consequence
Qatar would have to face the next match without one of its regular midfielders and with the uncertainty of an extended ban.
