The Possible Jordan Lineup to Face Austria in the 2026 FIFA World Cup
Jordan makes its debut in the 2026 World Cup after a historic qualification in Asia. With defensive doubts from the friendlies.
Jordan's path
Jordan faces its debut in the FIFA World Cup 2026 with a historic qualification. The team led by Jamal Sellami secured direct qualification after an outstanding campaign in the Asian Qualifiers, first winning their group in the second round ahead of Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, and Pakistan, and then finishing second in the third phase with 16 points in a demanding zone alongside South Korea, Iraq, Oman, Palestine, and Kuwait.
The World Cup preview
The pre-match preparation left mixed signals. In the friendlies, they lost 4-1 to Switzerland and 2-0 to Colombia in San Diego. In both matches, defensive problems were evident against numerous attacks, although offensive capability was also displayed. Sellami highlighted that the team arrives without any injuries and emphasized: "The coaching staff is working to improve the team's performance during the next phase, in order to reach the required level of preparation."

Underdogs and their possible lineup
In Group J, Jordan starts as the "underdog," but will seek to compete with tactical discipline and take advantage of the speed of their attackers. Mousa Al Taamari and Mahmoud Mardi appear as the main offensive cards to try to surprise Austria in the opener.
The possible lineup of Jordan against Austria, under a 4-3-3 formation, would be: Yazeed Abulaila; Mohammad Abu Hasheesh, Yazan Al Arab, Abdullah Nasib, Ehsan Haddad; Nizar Al Rashdan, Noor Al Rawabdeh, Ali Olwan; Mousa Al Taamari, Mahmoud Mardi, and Mohammad Abu Zraiq
