Germany dominates much of the ranking
Germany’s historic influence at the FIFA World Cup is clearly reflected in this ranking. Legendary figures such as Lothar Matthäus, Miroslav Klose, Uwe Seeler, and Philipp Lahm all appear among the players with the most minutes played in tournament history.
Matthäus accumulated 2,047 minutes across 25 matches, while Klose — the all-time leading scorer in World Cup history with 16 goals — totaled 1,792 minutes in 24 appearances. Germany’s consistency at the highest level allowed several of its icons to cement their place among football’s greatest World Cup legends.

The list also features two of the most influential names in modern football history: Diego Maradona and Cristiano Ronaldo.
