Spain’s Predicted Lineups for the FIFA World Cup 2026 Clash Against Saudi Arabia
La Roja enters under pressure to deliver a victory, both as a World Cup favorite and because of the star-studded talent throughout its squad.
Spain still has unfinished business at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after being held to a scoreless draw by Cape Verde in its tournament opener.
La Roja returns to action on Sunday, June 21, against Saudi Arabia at Atlanta Stadium, where anything less than a victory would be viewed as a disappointment given its status as both the favorite in the match and one of the leading contenders for the world title. Can Spain deliver?
THE PROJECTED STARTING XI
Head coach Luis de la Fuente is expected to line up in a 4-3-3 formation, with Unai Simón between the posts.
In defense, Aymeric Laporte and Pau Cubarsí are likely to form the center-back pairing, flanked by Marc Cucurella at left back and Pedro Porro on the right. Porro would be the main change from the draw against Cape Verde, replacing Marcos Llorente in the starting lineup.
In midfield, Rodri is set to anchor the center of the park, while Pedri and Fabián Ruiz provide creativity behind an attacking trio of Mikel Oyarzabal, Dani Olmo, and Lamine Yamal.
Ferran Torres and Gavi are expected to begin on the bench this time, offering impact options later in the match rather than starting as they did in the opener.
Mikel Merino, Nico Williams, and Martín Zubimendi are also among the substitutes who could see action, particularly with Yamal reportedly managing a minor physical issue that may prevent him from playing the full 90 minutes.
