Ronaldo Nazário delivered a brutal assessment of Argentina's defeat to Spain in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final, insisting the 1-0 scoreline failed to reflect the gap between the two sides.
Ronaldo Didn't Hold Back on Argentina
Ronaldo Nazário offered a blunt verdict on the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final. Although Spain needed just one goal to defeat Argentina, the Brazilian legend believes the difference between the two teams was far greater than the final score suggested.
Speaking on his digital channel, Rede Ronaldo, the 2002 World Cup winner praised Luis de la Fuente's side for controlling the match from start to finish and described the final as a showcase of Spain's superiority.

"The goals I predicted didn't come, but it was complete domination throughout the entire match," Ronaldo said.
According to the former Real Madrid and Barcelona striker, the 1-0 result didn't do justice to what happened on the pitch. He argued that Spain dictated possession, controlled the tempo and never allowed Argentina to play the style that had carried the defending champions back to another World Cup Final.
Not Even Messi Could Change the Outcome
Ronaldo also suggested that Lionel Messi's presence wasn't enough to overcome Spain's collective strength.
"One player can never solve everything. The real strength lies in the team and playing together," the Brazilian said, pointing to the final as proof that teamwork outweighs individual brilliance on the biggest stage.
Despite his criticism, Ronaldo praised Argentina for its determination and acknowledged the achievement of reaching another World Cup Final.
Spain Has Become the Standard
The two-time Ballon d'Or winner also applauded Spain's footballing identity, saying its ability to control possession was the key to lifting the trophy.
"Keeping the ball under control is the best strategy, and they did it brilliantly," Ronaldo explained.
He believes Spain has become a global benchmark thanks to its possession-based approach, fluid team play and ability to dictate matches against the world's best opponents.
Ronaldo Compares Spain's Success to Brazil's Struggles
Ronaldo used Spain's triumph to draw a contrast with the current Brazilian national team. In his view, while Spain has developed a unique and modern football identity, Brazil has been left behind with an outdated style of play.
The former striker believes Brazil must rebuild its collective identity if it hopes to compete for future World Cup titles, arguing that Spain's success proves individual talent alone is no longer enough to win the sport's biggest prize.
