Senegalese Football Federation Confirms Pape Thiaw's Departure
The decision comes after Senegal's elimination in the Round of 32 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup™, following a 3-2 extra-time defeat to Belgium.
The federation said in a statement published on its social media channels:
"It has been decided to begin the process of terminating the contract of the national team head coach, Mr. Pape Thiaw, along with all members of his coaching staff."

The statement continued:
"This decision follows Senegal's elimination in the Round of 32 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. After a thorough evaluation of the team's sporting results and future prospects, the Executive Committee considered it necessary to take this step in the best interest of Senegalese football."
