The Athletic Club star provided the decisive assist in extra time for Ferran Torres' winning goal at New York New Jersey Stadium, helping Spain capture its second World Cup title and join France and Uruguay as two-time world champions.
La Roja Secures Historic Victory
The reigning European champions lifted football's biggest prize after defeating Argentina in extra time, with La Albiceleste playing the final stages of the match with ten men.
Luis de la Fuente's side dominated the contest from start to finish, finishing with 20 shots compared to just three from an ultra-defensive Argentina. Introduced as a second-half substitute, Williams immediately changed the pace of Spain's attack, constantly threatening the Argentine defense.
Williams Pays Tribute to His Football Idol
The 24-year-old could not hide his emotions after the final whistle and surprised many by dedicating Spain's World Cup triumph to Brazil superstar Neymar, whose World Cup campaign ended in the Round of 16.
Speaking to Caze TV, Williams said:
"I'm very happy. For me, this is the most beautiful moment. I admire Neymar, and I hope he's watching us. This is for him as well."

The tightly contested final, played under intense summer heat, swung decisively in Spain's favor just before extra time when Enzo Fernández was sent off for a heavy challenge on Pau Cubarsí.
The winning goal arrived early in the second period of extra time. Williams burst down the wing before delivering a pinpoint cross for former Manchester City forward Ferran Torres, who calmly finished to send the ball into the net and secure Spain's second FIFA World Cup title.
Williams had earlier found the back of the net himself, but his goal was ruled out after Mikel Merino was penalized for a foul on Nicolás Otamendi in the buildup.
