Mexican Legends defeat FIFA Legends on penalties in a goal-filled celebration
Cafú, Luis “El Matador” Hernández, and Xavi Hernández proved that the talent that once made them global stars is still there, delivering a thrilling night of football in Monterrey.
The FIFA Legends Match, part of the preparations for the 2026 World Cup, lived up to expectations. The game was filled with flashes of quality and memorable moments, highlighted by a brilliant performance from Cafú, who scored two goals and provided one assist in a spectacular 5–5 draw between the Mexico Legends and the International Legends.
The evening was ultimately decided in a penalty shootout, where the Mexican Legends prevailed 3–2.
Cafú stole the show for the international side
The former Real Madrid full-back showed that his class remains intact, directly contributing to three of the five goals scored by the FIFA Legends.
In addition to a superb assist for Alessandro Del Piero when the move looked lost, Cafú added two goals, making the most of the pace and striking ability that defined his career.

“El Matador” Hernández, Marco Fabián and Moisés Muñoz shine for Mexico
Time seems to have passed without dulling Luis “El Matador” Hernández, who scored once and delivered a clever assist—very much in the style of Cuauhtémoc Blanco—for Antonio De Nigris.
Marco Fabián also made his mark with a free-kick goal that sent the match to penalties, where Moisés Muñoz emerged as the hero, producing key saves to secure the victory for the Mexican Legends.
