Jude Bellingham's Availability Against Argentina Is in Doubt: Here's What We Know
The England midfielder inspired his team with a brace against Norway, but he also finished the match showing signs of discomfort in his left shoulder, an area that has troubled him before.
From England's hero to its biggest concern
Jude Bellingham was once again the difference-maker as England booked its place in the semifinals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Real Madrid midfielder scored twice in the victory over Norway, delivering another match-winning performance when the Three Lions needed him most.
But the celebrations were accompanied by growing concern.
Following a collision during the match, Bellingham was repeatedly seen holding his left shoulder, immediately raising questions about his condition ahead of England's showdown with Argentina.
The discomfort continued after the final whistle
The first warning signs came during one of the cooling breaks.
Television cameras caught Bellingham speaking with England's medical staff while continuing to rub his left shoulder. Even as Thomas Tuchel delivered instructions from the touchline, the midfielder appeared visibly uncomfortable.
The concern did not disappear after the match.
While receiving his Player of the Match award, Bellingham was seen stretching the shoulder and repeatedly touching the same area that had bothered him throughout the game.
According to Spanish newspaper Sport, the England star continued to experience discomfort after the victory. However, the Football Association has not released any official medical update confirming an injury or suggesting that he could miss the semifinal.
A shoulder that has troubled him before
The concern surrounding Bellingham is understandable given his medical history.
The England international suffered a left shoulder dislocation during his first season at Real Madrid after an awkward fall in a LaLiga match against Rayo Vallecano.
Rather than undergoing immediate surgery, Bellingham chose to continue playing through the pain, wearing protective support for much of the following months because of the demanding club and international schedule.
Following the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, he finally underwent surgery to stabilize the shoulder and reduce the risk of future dislocations.
The procedure sidelined him for roughly two and a half months before he returned to action.
During his rehabilitation, Bellingham admitted he had grown tired of playing through pain and wearing a shoulder brace for so long.

His social media posts also caught attention
A few hours after England's victory, Bellingham shared several images documenting his recovery process.
One showed him wearing an oxygen mask as part of his post-match recovery routine.
Another photo, taken at England's training camp pool, clearly revealed the surgical scar on his left shoulder from the operation he underwent in 2025.
While neither post confirmed a new injury, both fueled speculation about the same shoulder that had visibly troubled him throughout the quarterfinal.
Will Bellingham be available against Argentina?
At this stage, there is no official indication that Bellingham will miss England's World Cup semifinal.
His availability will depend on how the shoulder responds over the coming days and on the medical evaluations carried out before Wednesday's match against Argentina.
Given his history with the injury and the visible discomfort he showed against Norway, his condition is expected to be monitored closely by England's medical staff.
For Thomas Tuchel, having Bellingham available would be a massive boost. Beyond his two goals against Norway, the 23-year-old has become England's emotional leader and one of its most influential players throughout the tournament.
England will hope it was nothing more than a painful knock. Until further medical updates are provided, however, Bellingham's status for the semifinal remains one of the biggest storylines ahead of the clash with Argentina.
